Privacy Policy
Ours — Shared Budget
Last updated: September 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Ours app (“the App,” “we,” “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
Summary
- The App works locally on your device by default. You can create and track budgets without an account.
- If you sign in (via Sign in with Apple) and use shared budgets or cloud backup, your budget data is stored on our backend so it can sync across devices and with people you invite.
- We do not sell your data, show third-party ads, or connect to your bank.
- You can delete your data at any time.
- Account identity. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name. We do not receive your Apple ID password. If Apple provides a relay email, we may receive that relay address; we do not receive your real email unless you choose to share it.
- Display name. A name you set to identify yourself to other members of a shared budget.
- Budget content. Budgets, categories, and transactions you create — including amounts, dates, merchant names, and descriptions you enter.
- Membership and sharing data. When you host or join a shared budget, we store which budgets you belong to and your role, so the right people can access the right budget.
- Authorship. Transactions record which member created them, so shared budgets can show who added what.
- We do not connect to, access, or import from your bank or financial institutions.
- We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or device identifiers for tracking.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across apps.
We use your information only to provide the App’s features:
- To let you create and track budgets on your device.
- To sync your budgets across your devices and with members you invite (when signed in and using shared or backed-up budgets).
- To show member names and authorship within a shared budget.
- To operate the paid subscription (see “Subscriptions” below).
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
- With members you invite. Content in a shared budget is visible to the people you invite to that budget (and to people who join with a code you share). Only invited members can see a shared budget — it is not public and is not discoverable by anyone else.
- Service providers. We use the following providers to run the App:
- Supabase — backend database and authentication that stores your synced budget data.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and App Store subscription processing.
- We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage and Security
- Data you keep only on your device stays on your device.
- Synced and shared data is stored on our backend (Supabase) and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Access to shared budgets is restricted so that only members of a given budget can read or write its data.
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Subscriptions
Some features (hosting shared budgets and cloud backup) require a paid subscription, offered as monthly or yearly plans with a free trial where indicated. Payment is processed by Apple through your App Store account; we do not receive or store your payment card details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device’s App Store account settings.
Your Choices and Rights
- Use without an account. You can use core budgeting features locally without signing in.
- Access and deletion. You can delete budgets and transactions within the App. To request deletion of your account and associated backend data, contact us at the email below.
- Leaving shared budgets. You can leave a shared budget at any time, which removes your access to it.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion) under laws like GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Terms of Use
Ours — Shared Budget
Last updated: September 15, 2026
By downloading or using the Ours app (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The Service
Ours is a personal budgeting and expense-tracking tool. It lets you create budgets, record transactions, and optionally share budgets with people you invite and back them up to the cloud. Some features require a paid subscription (see “Subscriptions”).
Not Financial Advice
Ours is a budgeting and expense-tracking tool only. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing in the App should be relied upon as such. Any figures, totals, summaries, insights, comparisons, or projections shown are for informational and organizational purposes only, may contain errors, and are not a guarantee of any outcome. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter. The App organizes and displays the information you provide, but we do not guarantee that any calculation, total, or synced value is complete, current, or error-free. You should independently verify any figure you rely on. Do not use the App as your sole record for anything important — keep your own copies of critical financial records.
Your Account and Content
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of the account you sign in with and for activity that occurs under it.
- You retain ownership of the budget content you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, sync, and display that content to you and to the members you invite, in order to operate the App.
- When you host or join a shared budget, content in that budget is visible to its members. Do not add content you are not comfortable sharing with those members. Only invite people you trust.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, other users’ data, or our systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App or its infrastructure.
- Upload content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes the rights of others.
We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms.
Subscriptions
Certain features (hosting shared budgets and cloud backup) require a paid subscription, offered as monthly or yearly plans, with a free trial where indicated.
- Payment is charged to your Apple App Store account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in your device’s App Store account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Prices are shown in the App and may vary by region; we may change prices for future periods with notice as required.
Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policy; we do not process payments or issue refunds directly.
Availability and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time, and we may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT DATA WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE OR ACCURATE.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR SAVINGS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR, IF YOU PAID NOTHING, ZERO DOLLARS ($0). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Data Loss
While we take reasonable measures to store and sync your data, we do not guarantee against loss, corruption, or unavailability of data. You are responsible for keeping your own records of any financial information that matters to you. We are not liable for any loss of data.
